About the Project

Brandly had packaged a lightweight, mobile-first design studio aimed at non-designers: after phone verification and brand setup users picked a category (festival, marketing, political, business), customized templates with their logo and text, optionally created short animated videos, and exported ready-to-post assets. The app emphasized speed and volume (many templates for daily, festival and campaign needs), supported free/paid assets, showed ads, and exposed support/contact information in the Play listing. The developer distributed the Android app via Google Play and maintained a public website and support email.

Challenges in Development

Copyright & Content Rights

The app included a disclaimer that wallpapers/images were aggregated from different sources, so ensuring rightful usage and avoiding takedown/copyright claims was a significant risk.

Onboarding & Trust (phone verification)

Requiring phone registration simplified brand setup but risked friction; balancing fast onboarding with fraud prevention was hard.

Monetization & User Conversion

Converting free users (ad-supported) into paid template buyers or subscribers without harming retention required careful pricing, trials and value demonstration.

Solutions: Our software agency provided

We established an asset-rights registry and template CMS so Brandly could scale thousands of templates safely while tracking provenance for every image. We shifted heavy video processing off-device and implemented progressive previews to make the app feel snappy across low-end phones. We redesigned onboarding to reduce phone-verification friction and added fraud controls to protect brand creators. Finally, we launched subscription bundles and ad-mediation improvements with A/B testing so monetization increased while user retention remained steady.

Key Features of the Application

1. Template Library

The app offered thousands of poster and social-media templates (festival, business, ads, political posts) that users customized with text, logos and images.

2. Brand Profile & Quick-Branding

Users registered with a phone number, uploaded company details and a logo, and Brandly produced brand-aware templates automatically.

3. Image & Video Maker

The product included quick image composers and a simple video/animation maker (slides, transitions, music/voiceover) for short marketing clips.

4. Business Card & Digital Card Creator

It provided business-card templates and one-page digital card outputs for sharing contact info.

5. Export & Share Flows

Users downloaded assets or shared directly to social platforms; app metadata signaled built-in sharing and download options.

Technologies We Use in This Project

The solution improved user engagement, and a pilot adoption rate exceeding expectations.

Results & Business Impact — Product & Operational Outcomes

After the engagement, the app shipped faster template updates and handled editorial rollouts without breaking releases. Copyright incidents and takedown times decreased because provenance metadata and takedown workflows shortened response cycles. Media exports became more reliable and user complaints about crashes dropped after backend-driven transcoding and client optimizations. Monetization experiments improved conversion to paid templates and reduced reliance on low-value ads while preserving retention.
