About the Project

RoomRaccoon had built a focused SaaS stack for independent and boutique hoteliers: a cloud PMS that tightly integrated with a two-way channel manager and a commission-free booking engine, plus payments and partner integrations to manage the full guest lifecycle. Hoteliers used the platform to accept direct bookings, synchronize inventory across dozens of OTAs, manage front-desk and housekeeping operations, and reconcile payments — all under a single subscription billing model that emphasized transparent pricing for small and medium properties. RoomRaccoon scaled organically across Europe and published regular product growth updates as it broadened its partner network.

Challenges in Development

Distribution consistency

Keeping rates, stop-sell windows and allotments synchronized across many OTAs required robust two-way mapping, idempotent updates and conflict resolution to prevent double bookings.

Payment reconciliation & VCC complexity

Handling OTA virtual card flows, refunds and differing settlement terms created reconciliation and cash-flow challenges for operations teams.

Scaling integrations for SMEs

Supporting many regional payment providers, revenue tools and niche OTAs while keeping the product simple for small hotels required an integration & partner strategy that avoided bespoke engineering for each customer.

Solutions: Our software agency provided

We delivered a resilient synchronization layer and channel adapters so RoomRaccoon’s Channel Manager kept inventory consistent across dozens of OTAs. We modernized their booking engine with a mobile-first widget and local payment flows that made direct checkout faster and more reliable. We implemented payment reconciliation and VCC monitoring tools that cut manual accounting work and improved cash-flow transparency. Finally, we launched connector templates and bulk-edit UX improvements that reduced operational workload for small hotel teams.

Key Features of the Application

1. Property Management System (PMS)

The PMS consolidated reservations, guest profiles, housekeeping and invoicing so front-desk teams managed daily operations from one system.

2. Two-way Channel Manager

RoomRaccoon synchronized availability, rates and restrictions in real time across OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia and others) to prevent overbookings.

3. Commission-free Booking Engine

The Booking Engine accepted direct bookings on hotel websites, supported mobile checkout, and aimed to boost commission-free revenue.

4. Payments & VCC Management

The Payments Hub handled OTA transaction flows, virtual credit cards (VCC) monitoring and payout reconciliation to improve cash-flow visibility.

5. Integrations Ecosystem

The platform exposed integrations for OTAs, payment gateways, RMS/PMS partners and third-party tools so hotels could keep existing partners while consolidating core workflows.

Results & Business Impact — Distribution & Operational Outcomes

Channel sync reliability improved and incidents of double-bookings decreased after idempotent sync and conflict-preview tooling, which reduced emergency manual interventions. Direct-booking conversion rose following the booking-widget refresh and localized payment support, increasing commission-free revenue for many properties. Payment orchestration and daily settlement reports cut reconciliation time and lowered refund-related errors. Connector standardization and bulk operation UX decreased onboarding time for new hotels and lowered day-to-day operational load.
