About the Project

Cubilis had evolved into an integrated distribution and direct-booking product aimed at independent hotels, B&Bs and holiday-home operators. Properties used the Cubilis Channel Manager to push rates/availability to a wide OTA footprint while the Cubilis Booking Engine captured direct bookings on branded websites and social pages. The vendor also exposed integrations for PMS, payment processors and upsell tools so operations (check-in, invoicing, upsells) could flow from OTA and direct channels into the property’s back office.

Challenges in Development

Distribution scale & data consistency

Keeping rates, restrictions and inventory synchronized across 200+ channels required robust two-way mapping, idempotent updates and conflict resolution to prevent overbookings.

PMS & payments interoperability

Integrating many PMS vendors and payment gateways while handling differing data models, tax logic and settlement workflows created integration complexity.

Market consolidation & strategic alignment

The hospitality distribution landscape evolved quickly, and vendor consolidation (e.g., industry acquisitions) introduced product-roadmap and partner alignment challenges.

Solutions: Our software agency provided

We built a resilient, event-driven sync layer and channel adapters so Cubilis’ channel manager kept rates and availability consistent across hundreds of OTAs. We modernized the booking widget into a mobile-first React component with tokenized payments to increase direct booking conversion and lower commission exposure. We implemented a PMS/payment adapter hub and reconciliation pipelines so integrations required minimal one-off engineering and accounting matched bookings reliably. Finally, we shipped bulk update UX improvements and analytics dashboards that reduced manual workload for small teams and helped properties optimize their distribution mix.

Key Features of the Application

1. Channel Manager

Cubilis synchronized rates and availability in real time to more than 200 OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb and local channels) so properties avoided double-bookings and preserved consistent inventory.

2. Booking Engine (commission-free)

The embeddable booking module accepted direct bookings on the property’s website and Facebook page, supported mobile users and aimed to increase commission-free revenue.

3. Integrations Ecosystem

Cubilis integrated with 50+ PMS platforms (Mews, Protel, Opera etc.), payment gateways (Mollie, Stripe) and revenue/upsell partners to streamline operations and payments.

4. Pricing Manager & Bulk Updates

The platform offered bulk update tools, rate restrictions and mapping features so teams could update many room/rate combinations quickly and manage complex pricing rules.

5. Booking & Reservation Management

Cubilis provided a central reservations dashboard, reporting and export tools for reconciliation and accounting workflows.

Results & Business Impact — Distribution & Direct-Booking Outcomes

Properties that used our integrations saw fewer rate-mismatch incidents and near-elimination of double-bookings due to idempotent channel sync. Direct booking conversion improved after the booking widget refresh, which reduced OTA commission exposure and increased net revenue per booking. Integration standardization and reconciliation automation cut manual reconciliation hours and lowered payment/settlement errors. Overall, these changes increased commission-free bookings, improved operational reliability, and raised revenue retention for Cubilis customers.
